Karma For Cuomo

In Hinduism and Buddhism, karma is thought to be the sum of one’s actions (in this life as well as previous lives) that will determine what a person’s fate will be going foreword. In other words, Karma can be thought of as a succinct way of saying “what goes around comes around.”

When karma doles out comeuppance to people we don’t like, a bit of delicious schadenfreude is the order of the day. For example, I shed not a single tear when I learned that Trump antagonist, self important and self righteous attorney Michael Avenatti, was convicted on three counts of extortion involving footwear maker Nike. He faces up to 40 years in prison and sentencing will be this May. My response?… Yes!!! Lock him up!!!

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I have had pretty much the same reaction to the travails that now beset the Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo. As readers will undoubtedly know, the Governor faces a phalanx of women who accuse him of sexual “misconduct.” While some of the accusations seem to have merit, many seem to me to be frivolous. One accuser claimed that Cuomo “looked down my shirt.” Wow wee! Gosh, almighty! I would posit that if you don’t like men looking down your shirt, why ON EARTH are you wearing cleavage? Those Victorian button ups are the clear antidote to that. Another accuser complained about the Governor’s “obsession with his hands.” That’s HIS hands, by the way, NOT hers. Is THAT a crime? Since when is self preoccupation criminal? And there appears to be a lot more along these lines. And, as mentioned in a previous essay, none of what’s being alleged is worse than the many things that Candidate Biden did, again and again, ON CAMERA. And HE got to be PRESIDENT! And, ALL of what’s being alleged of Mr. Cuomo PALES in comparison to what Bill Clinton’s multiple accusers alleged, and later PROVED in COURT, to have done. And HE got to be President TOO!

No, Andrew Cuomo is not getting a fair shake in the hyper accusatory atmosphere of today’s “snow flake” society. But, do I shed a tear for him? No, dear readers, I don’t. And, the reasons are three.

The first is that he’s a bully. Plain and simple. His overbearing manner is well known. Television’s “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver described Cuomo as “famously unpleasant.” As noted by Jesse McKinley in the NYT (February 22, 2021): “Accounts in which the governor berated aides and elected officials, brought people to tears and threatened to fire them or end their careers, are not uncommon.” Like many others, I LOVE it when the school yard bully gets taken down.

Second, Cuomo was a constant Trump antagonist, making Trump the scapegoat, par excellence, for Cuomo’s own failures. After delaying COVID response across the State of New York and forcing nursing homes to admit known COVID patients, when New York went on to show one of the worst COVID infection rates in the world, the Governor blamed it all on… President Trump, of course. His exact words were: “Donald Trump caused the COVID outbreak in New York.” (https://www.wxxinews.org/post/cuomo-donald-trump-caused-covid-outbreak-new-york). And, he said that with a straight face.

Third, and, in my opinion, most damning, is that Cuomo advocated and signed into law one of the most creepy and disgusting pieces of legislation that I’ve encountered IN MY LIFETIME . What legislation? The one which legalized, in New York State, the performance of an abortion UP UNTIL THE MOMENT OF BIRTH. Let me repeat that: abortion UP UNTIL THE MOMENT OF BIRTH in New York State is PERFECTLY LEGAL. Dear readers, “abortion” at 39 weeks ISN’T abortion. It’s INFANTICIDE. And when he signed this ghoulish legislation into law, in a paroxysm of unwitting and supreme irony, he had the Empire State Building ILLUMINATED IN PINK to celebrate the occasion! In my estimation that act alone justifies all of the tribulations he’s facing now in this life, and perhaps, also, in the next.

  1. Chomo also delayedDiBiasio’s decision to close the city thereby increasing the number of sick and dead in NYC. Oh and let’s not forget what he did with nursing homes.
