Welcome to EmperorsNuClothes.com. The proper title of this blog should,  of course, be the “Emperors NEW Clothes”, after the charming Hans Christian Anderson short story of the same name. As you might have suspected, however, that title is already owned by a domaine name company that wanted thousands of dollars to part with it. Rather than incurring that expense, I decided to use an alternative name with a similar meaning, hence the “Nu” rather than “New” in the title.

I chose this title for my website because I feel that it captures some of what I am trying to accomplish with my commentary. In case you are not familiar with Mr. Anderson’s story, it revolves around a conniving tailor who literally sells the Emperor a “bill of goods.” In short, he convinces the Emperor that he has made a suit of such sheer fabric that only the most gifted and accomplished people will be able to see it. In reality the suit is made of nothing, but since no one, including the Emperor, wants to admit their inferiority, no one says the obvious, and the Emperor goes on a parade through the village buck naked. Finally, a “little child” pipes up and says the unspoken obvious: “THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES”! Well, dear reader, I often feel like the “little child” in that story. As an observer of day-to-day events in America and around the world, I often see things that I feel should be obvious to any honest and reasonably intelligent individual. The trouble is, like the townspeople in the Christian Anderson story, sometimes it seems like NO ONE IS SAYING A WORD! NOT A PEEP! Well, like the “little child” in the story, I often feel compelled to speak up.

It has been said that “Wisdom is nothing more than an awareness of the obvious.” It is my goal to write commentary directed toward that goal. Hence, the creation of the website you see here. Some of you may already be familiar with some of my essays through previous posts on FaceBook and elsewhere. Although FaceBook has done a very nice job of presenting my posts and allowing “shares” from enthusiastic readers, some readers may not want to visit that venue or may want to have my essays conveniently presented in one place. For this reason, I am providing this venue as an option. This blog has no other purpose than to share my thoughts and observations with interested readers. I will not run any advertisements and do not expect to earn a single penny from this endeavor. Although I expect that some readers may find the views and opinions presented here controversial, the intention of these essays is NOT to be controversial for contoversy’s sake. And it is not to offend any person or group, but, instead, to present observations, assessments, ideas and suggestions, that should be taken for what they are, nothing more. I will make every effort to present content that’s correct and accurate. If I have posted something that’s incorrect, I would welcome feedback from my readers, and will post changes or retractions when needed. Simply email me at: littlechild@emperorsnuclothes.com. Ideas for new essays are welcomed too. Thanks for reading, and welcome to: EmperorsNuClothes.com

Please go to the “Table Of Contents” Page and click on any title of interest to bring up the essay. The essays are listed chronologically, recent to past. If the screen you’re looking at doesn’t appear to respond quickly, try scrolling down a little bit to bring up the essays. If you are accessing this site with a computer, you may also use the search bar on the right hand side of the page and search for content by topic or key words.

If you are accessing this site on a mobile device, please turn you device sideways to access a three line menu button that appears in the upper right hand corner. This will bring up a drop down menu. You can then go to ‘Blog” or “Table of Contents” to access content.
