A Lie Becomes Truth
On April 27, the United States House Permanent Select Committee issued its FINAL REPORT certifying that it could find no evidence of collusion between Donald Trump and the Russian Government.
Earlier reports from the same committee established that the whole Trump/Russia collusion issue was started by a false “dossier” that was financed by the Mr. Trump’s political OPPONENT, Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
In addition, the Special Counsel, Robert Mueller, has failed, after over a year of INTENSE INVESTIGATION, to put forth any evidence whatsoever that Mr. Trump colluded with Russia in any way.
And, what is more, Americans have become increasingly tired of the whole issue. A Morning Consult Poll from 10/30/17 showed that Americans felt that many topics like taxes, Medicare , Social Security, banking reform, infrastructure improvement and others were more important than the Mueller investigation. And this citizen fatigue has only worsened over the ensuing six months.
So, the honorable thing to do, under these circumstances, would be for the DNC to admit that Mr. Trump did not collude with the Russians, retire Robert Mueller and then let the whole idiotic issue fade from view, while they, FINALLY, turn their attention to working with President Trump for the good of our country. But NO! That’s not what they are doing! That’s NOT the plan!
The Democratic Party is making one last desperate attempt to keep the Trump/Russia collusion theme in play. How will they try to do it? Well, it won’t be easy. They’ve already created a Special Counsel. They’ve already convened Congressional committees. They’ve already enlisted every American newspaper with the exception of the Wall Street Journal. The’ve already conscripted every television network with the exception of Fox. And, they’ve already organized a posse made up of talking heads acrAmerica with the exception of Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and Jeannine Pirro. So, what’s the ONE THING they haven’t tried yet?
The COURTS, of course. The DNC has FILED SUIT against Mr. Trump FOR colluding with Russia. Yes, you read that right. They are suing President Trump for actions that HAVE NOT BEEN PROVEN in multiple intense investigations.
It will, I believe, be IMPOSSIBLE, ultimately, for them to win this suit, but that’s NOT the point. What they want is to keep the Trump/Russia meme (which is becoming rapidly moribund) IN PLAY up until the mid term elections in the hope that this will help them win legislative majorities. And, given that the judge that will hear this case will probably be an Obama appointee, it’s unlikely that the suit will be dismissed as frivolous, as it should be. And, if the headlines coming from the court room are “splashy” enough, the Democrats are hoping against hope that this will help them in next November’s voting.
Can this work? Well, you wouldn’t think so, but the Democrats have seldom gone wrong by UNDERESTIMATING the acuity of the American voter. (Obama’s re-election to a SECOND term is testament to this fact). And, it’s prudent to recall the saying that goes: “if you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes truth”. The Democratic Party is certainly trying this strategy. Let’s hope that it doesn’t work here.
