The Age Of Irony Update Number 2
By Little Sister and Little Child
Americans are way behind in paying their bills. A study by the RAND CORPORATION (https://www.rand.org/pubs/research_reports/RRA3083.html) showed a full 30% of American households are late with their payments, and, when non Hispanic blacks are considered, that figure goes up to 40%. Among Hispanic households that number is nearly 50%. Of course, the COVID pandemic is, by far, the most important cause. But it may not be the only cause. In some cases, the reason just might be… the United States Postal Service.
Though the postal service motto states: “neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds,” their may be some grounds to question that claim. First, when have you EVER seen a mailman out and about in the gloom of night? Second, “swift” doesn’t seem to apply of late.
Recently (February 26, 2021) the Washington Post ran an article cataloging the inadequacies of the US Postal Service. It seems Americans are dealing with myriad late bills and have been stuck with late fees. During the holiday season it took an average of six days for FIRST CLASS MAIL to reach its destination. Small businesses are getting paid late and in turn are having difficulty paying their bills. So maybe Americans didn’t pay their bills, because THEY NEVER GOT THEM.
I find it quite risible that the Postal Service is under scrutiny now, after the presidential election has come and gone, but was considered to be a paragon of trustworthiness back in November. IRONICALLY the Washington Post and the the liberal minions did not seem to notice or care about the inadequacies of the US postal service during the 2020 presidential election. A whopping 46% of our citizens voted by “absentee” ballot most of which were at the mercy of the same US postal service which we are now realizing to be less than perfect. Whether you believe that the election was stolen from former President Trump or not, the veracity of mail-in ballots remains a valid concern. One of the many arguments against mail in voting can be found through the following link:
And, there are MANY more articles on this topic readily available. Amazingly, many Democrats, including Elizabeth Warren, now advocate switching to a completely mail In system. (It worked very well for them in November, didn’t it?) But the question still remains: do you want to trust your vote to the same people who lost your credit card bill?
So, questioning the reliability of the postal service NOW, while claiming it to be above reproach just a few months ago?… Oh, the irony!
