A New Country
If things go badly on November 3rd, it is possible that January 20, 2021 may turn out to be the new “Fourth of July.” If Biden wins the Presidency AND the Democrats take the Senate, the radical wing of the Democrat Party will become unstoppable. America, as a consequence, will not just change, it will become a new country, founded on that date. The following is a short list of the strategies that Democrats will use to usher in the Brave New Country that they would have us live in.
The first thing the Democrat majorities will do is try to “pack” the Supreme Court. (Biden is ALREADY talking about “reforming” it!) This will probably need to be their opening gambit because, as a friend of mine recently pointed out (thanks SW), in the face of Democrat majorities in both the executive and legislative branches, the Supreme Court might be the ONLY defender of our Constitution that remains.
Next, they will try to “pack the Senate” by granting statehood to Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, both of which they expect to vote strongly for the Democrats. There’s a lengthy process involved but both houses of Congress together with the President must agree. One of the main requirements for statehood is that the populace of the statehood candidate strongly wants to join the union. In the case of a Puerto Rico, proponents of statehood point to a recent poll that showed 97% of Puerto Ricans are in favor. The trouble is, however, only 20% of eligible voters bothered to vote.
If the Democrats can bring in additional states, they might then try to end the electoral college. (Everyone from Elizabeth Warren to Kamala Harris to Bernie Sanders has expressed an extreme desire to do so). Doing so, however, will be difficult because such a change would require TWO THIRDS majorities in both the House and Senate as well as approval from THREE QUARTERS of the states. But, they’ll certainly TRY. (The electoral college was created, by the way, to protect small states from big states, a worthy goal to be sure).
More predictable, even, than all of the above, will be wild governmental spending sprees. What’s wrong with that, you might ask? Government over spending will increase the budget deficit thereby dramatically inflating the economy. The inflated economy would, in turn, devalue our currency. The devalued currency would make it harder for the government to provide essential services, which will then require higher taxes, which will create more and more dependence on the federal government until socialism is, inevitably, enshrined.
They will work more toward that Democrat dream of a one party system of government. The Democrats, in one way or another, have refused to accept the victory of ANY Republican President since Dwight Eisenhower, and have gone to extreme lengths to delegitimize the current occupant. Should the Democrats prevail in the coming election, they will become so strong that the Republicans will have essentially no say in governing our country, making us in reality, if not in theory, a one party nation. And remember how well one party government worked the in the USSR, Maoist China and North Korea.
And, inevitably, they will move to “pack the country” with future Democrats, by throwing open our borders to untold numbers of illegal aliens that they envision will ALL become staunch Democrats, another step toward a one party nation.
And, make no mistake about it: the Democrats will come after private health insurance, a top leftist goal for at least fifty years. They will do so by massively subsidizing a “public option” against which NO private insurer can compete. Nearly EIGHTEEN PERCENT of our entire GDP currently goes to health care. Getting that chunk of our economy into the public sector would be a huge step toward full socialism.
Expect Democrats to continue to degrade the police. I say degrade because it’s not just defunding. They have so demoralized law enforcement that officers are, in vast numbers, leaving. Morning Report recently found that the NYPD has seen an EIGHTY SEVEN PERCENT INCREASE IN RETIREMENTS. On top of this, they will end cash bail, allowing immediate release of criminals. All of this will allow them to divert lots of money to their pet social projects. The resulting inevitable rise in crime doesn’t, apparently, seem to bother them.
Expect them also to further crack down on free speech. In the guise of eliminating “hate speech” or reducing “disinformation” they will censor news and opinions with which they disagree. The recent Twitter and Facebook shut down of access to their NEW YORK POST account because of the Post’s article on Hunter Biden’s corruption, is a frightening reminder of how close our nation is to this Orwellian future.
So, think about it: These schemes to “pack the Supreme Court,” “pack the Senate,” abolish the electoral college, over spend our way into socialism, “pack the populace with illegal alien ‘Democrats,’ take over medical care, crack down on free speech and enshrine a de facto one party system of government will not be simply changing our country. It will be CREATING A NEW ONE.
Is everyone “okay with that?”
