Notes From Battlefield 2020, Part Three, The Final Debate

Littlechild@emperorsnuclothes.com/ October 24, 2020/ Uncategorized

•During Thursday’s final 2020 presidential debate, Biden, who did very poorly overall, did get some mileage out of his mention of the 500 children separated from their parents at the border and now can’t be reunited. EVERYONE, of course, sympathizes with the anguish of an abandoned child. But there’s more to it than meets the eye. Trump chose not to respond to Biden’s demagoguery with the truth about these unfortunate youngsters, but, perhaps he should have. The reason why the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), the agency that manages these children, is unable to reunite them with their parents, is NOT because of sloppy paperwork, lack of diligence or poor record keeping. The records are all computerized and the diligence is intense. The reason is because the parents DON’T PICK THEM UP. How can that be, you might ask? The answer is that they don’t show up to pick up their offspring because they are NOT THE CHILD’S REAL PARENTS. These children were used by illegal migrants as a ticket across the border. The children are often offered up to migrants in an effort to give their children a better life in prosperous America. They are sometimes offered up, however, for MONEY. Border agent’s began to get suspicious when a significant number of migrant children DID NOT KNOW THE NAME OF THEIR PARENTS. Although no one wants to face it, it’s a harsh reality.

•Trump got particular milage, on the other hand, by focusing on Biden’s spectacular lack of achievement throughout 47 years in politics. “All talk, no action.” resonated quite well, I think, with hard working Americans everywhere.

•Trump hammered Biden about the emerging evidence of just how corrupt Biden’s family, AND BIDEN HIMSELF, are. When Trump questioned Biden over his involvement with his son’s criminal enterprises of influence pedaling, kick back and money laundering with China, the Ukraine and Russia (WHILE Biden was Vice President), Biden, responded, without a trace of irony: “This election isn’t about my family.” (Ethics, apparently, be damned). Turning to look directly (and theatrically) into the camera, he intoned, with an affected paternalistic gravitas: “It’s about American families.” “It’s about YOU, sitting around the table not having enough to eat.” Fortunately, Trump was not going to let him wiggle out so easily. He responded quickly: “Look at that! Ask him a question about corruption and he wants to talk about a family at the dinner table!…. Typical politician!” And he was SO right. And Trump repeated that aspersion a number of other times. I just wish he had thought to use the famous Ronald Reagan phrase: “THERE YOU GO AGAIN…” on each occasion.

•My nomination for the single most important outcome of last night’s debate: when rattled Biden was goaded by Trump into “clarifying” his energy policy, he, apparently forgot that he wasn’t speaking to undergraduate “progressives” at Brown University, and continued his kowtowing to the radical left wing of the Democrat Party by admitting that his goal was indeed to abolish the fossil fuel industry in the USA. With that single stroke of stupidity (we just KNEW it would come out, sooner or later!) he LOST Pennsylvania and killed any hopes the Dems may have had about a “blue Texas.” Maybe Ohio too. SEVENTY SIX electoral votes all in all. Not bad for three minutes of letting Biden speak, with, perhaps, just a touch of baiting.

•In the post debate coverage, commentator Dan Bongino made a somewhat counterintuitive but brilliant point. Bongino opined that this election won’t really be, as is often touted, a matter of the undecided. He said that at this point there really AREN’T any undecided. EVERYONE already HAS decided. In fact, FIFTY MILLION have ALREADY voted. The election, he maintained, will be a matter of how “mobilized” the party bases are. If this analysis is correct, I think Biden is in trouble. Campaign “whistle stop” after “whistle stop” show Trump supporters coming out in the THOUSANDS. Biden isn’t really doing any rallies in earnest, and when does, the turn out is embarrassing (remember the video of him waving to a CORN FIELD?). Harris isn’t doing much better. Even Obama, who in 2008 and 2012 took Pennsylvania), found laughably little attendance in PHILADELPHIA as he stumped for Joe. And, as mentioned in a previous essay, my recent travels through liberal New England strongholds like Vermont and Massachusetts, found an AMAZING lack of BIDEN/HARRIS signs. The enthusiasm meter seems to be pointing squarely at President Trump.

•And, although you surely won’t read this in the New York Times or see it on MSNBC, opinion polls ARE shifting. The most recent results from the Trafalgar Group has Trump WINNING the general election by at 270 electoral votes or more. The reader might tend to pooh pooh this result as “pie in the sky” until you remember that Trafalgar was one of just two polling firms to have predicted a Trump WIN in 2016 (the other was the Los Angeles Times). When Trafalgar Chief pollster, Robert Cahaly, was asked by commentator Laura Ingraham why he was right in 2016 and the other companies wrong, Cahaly was gracious and cited a number of technical factors (such as too many questions and an over reliance on phone interviews both of which are often shunned by busy working people, the ones most likely to vote for Trump). What he was too POLITE to say, however, is something discussed unashamedly by political commentator Dinesh D’Souza. As D’Souza puts it, like much else in the media these days, polling is no longer just reporting; it has become a method of political ADVOCACY. In other words, left leaning pollsters do things like oversample Democrats, or phrase questions in such a way as to skew the answers. In other words, they LIE. By the way, Rasmussen Polling, which previously had favored Biden, now has him beating Biden in numerous battle ground states, including Florida. And, further, Rasmussen found that Trump now has a NATIONAL approval rating up to 51 and 52 percent. And, it’s likely we’ll see the Biden’s oil industry slipup reflected in the Ohio and Pennsylvania polls very soon.

•While on the subject of polls, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention yesterday’s Gallup Poll showing that FIFTY SEVEN PERCENT of Americans say that they are better off now than during the eight years of the Obama/Biden administration. The question I would now ask is: Why should America turn away an administration that has a sizable majority of Americans better off than before? And why should they take seriously posers that want to abolish the fossil fuel industry that has made our country prosperous and now without dependency on foreign oil? And to abandon reliable fossil fuels for fanciful “green new deals,” or for socialist economies that have FAILED EVERYWHERE they’ve been tried (Russia and China which are now capitalist, or, perhaps, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea which remain Communist but where squalor and even starvation abound)isn’t just stupid – it’s insane.

•In making his pitch for converting America, by 2030, to all “green energy” Biden repeatedly ignored the fact that both solar and wind are much too expensive and inefficient to compete with America’s existing energy infrastructure. He stated that the reason that alternative energy hasn’t succeeded is that the American government doesn’t subsidize them. He seems to have forgotten the multi billion dollar boondoggle of Solyndra under Obama, and the tremendous subsidies given to manufacturers of electric cars. Actually, he didn’t forget. He lied.

•And, while we are on the subject of lying, the AMAZING thing about Biden’s deceit isn’t just the sheer NUMBER of lies that he tells – it’s that he chooses lies that are readily exposed AS lies. For example: Biden told the audience that he never said he would ban fracking. Fox News and other sources immediately, post debate, played video tape of him saying exactly that. Elsewhere in the debate he said that “NO ONE” lost their medical insurance with the institution of Obama care. Congressional Budget Office figures show, however, that states lost 50% to 80% of their insurance plans; MILLIONS of people lost their insurance! He also claimed that the Hunter Biden “laptop” was “Russian Disinformation.” Unfortunately for him, the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the FBI, have both determined that the laptop is NOT disinformation from anyone. (Biden, it should be pointed out, has a LONG HISTORY OF UNABASHED LYING: Proof of plagiarism ended one of his previous bids for the White House. He also claimed that he had graduated in the top half of his class [he was THIRD FROM THE BOTTOM!]. As Kyle Smith of the National Review put it: “He is a CAREER LIAR.”).

•And, even in the face of all this dishonesty and chronic lying, together with emerging evidence of influence peddling, emoluments violations, not to mention his creepy fetish for young girls, ladies and gentlemen, the piece de resistance: Biden ends the debate saying: “Character is on the ballot.” Oh, BOY, is it ever!
