That Can Not Happen Here, Can It?

“I heard gun shots outside….They arrested my neighbor first…five officers armed with machine guns came and I froze. They forced me into the kitchen where my nephew was eating soup, facing me. My mother was at the stove to my left… they forced me to the ground… They sent my nephew into the next room and said to my mother: ‘You old whore, follow the boy… When we got to the lorry, our hands and feet were bound. The lorry had been used to take animals to the slaughter house and there was still blood and feces on the floor. The stench was almost unbearable, all part of the tactics to break the men’s spirits. My neighbor Steven was beaten with a gun stock and was eventually taken to the hospital where he died. On arrival we were taken for interrogation.”

The narrative above is an abridged version of a statement by Karoly (his full name), a political dissident in Hungary when it was controlled by Russia. It is taken from “Karoly, the Hungarian Tragedy” by Michael Fitzalan, 2011. Karoly was eventually put into forced labor in a mine where he toiled under inhumane conditions for many years until he escaped to the west in 1956.

Readers of the above may feel pity for the brutal treatment of this prisoner of conscience, but are not likely to feel afraid. Because they are US citizens, readers are likely to say: “It can’t happen here!” But the sad fact is, that it can happen here. In fact, it’s already started.

On January 25, 2019, political COMMENTATOR (with no criminal record what-so-ever) Roger Stone was arrested by an FBI SWAT TEAM at the direction of Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller. Mr. Stone was charged with “lying to Congress” and with “obstructing justice”, both of which were based on the flimsiest grounds imaginable. (By the way, correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t recall obstruction charges being brought against Hillary Clinton, who ADMITTED DELETING 30 THOUSAND emails UNDER SUBPOENA.)

Roger Stone, by virtue of his conservative views and his unwavering support of Donal Trump, has become, in effect, a prisoner of conscience. I’ll let Mr. Stone describe his arrest in his own words:

“From the start of this ‘investigation’ I have been completely cooperative with Congress and chose to offer my voluntary testimony about the 2016 campaign. Had the Office of the Special Counsel requested that I turn myself in, I would have gladly done so.

Instead, they launched a SWAT operation that was more suited to apprehending Pablo Escobar, all in plain view of the mainstream media goons who were camped across the street from my house because they “got a tip”.

FBI agents swarmed onto my property and surrounded my entire home with bullet proof vests and night vision goggles. My wife Nydia, who is hearing impaired, and our two small dogs woke up to a thunderous bang on our front door.

When I opened the door, I found myself looking down the barrel of two assault rifles. A helicopter flew overhead and an amphibious FBI unit pulled up into the canal behind my house….

The idea of using this kind of force when I am (falsely) accused of non-violent process crimes, have no prior criminal record and do not own a gun or a valid passport should concern every American”.

The fact that the CNN camera team was at the arrest at five in the morning, indicates that they were TIPPED OFF by someone in the FBI or in the Mueller team. This is, of course, is highly ILLEGAL. The claim by a CNN spokesman, that the camera team was there at five o’clock in the morning because of “good journalistic intuition” is simply not credible.

Night time raids, SWAT tactics, trumped up charges, shaming exposure. Like Karoly’s arrest by the KGB, it’s all there. The only thing missing is the animal blood and feces in the transport vehicle. So, if you are tempted to say, “It can’t happen here”, it looks like it already has.

P.S.: Mr. Stone is a private citizen that must fund all of his legal defense out of his own pocket. He has already cancelled his health insurance to free up money to pay for counsel. If you would like to donate, as I have, to help with his defense, you may do so:

  1. This is the greatest abuse of power in recent years. This amount of force was not used for Al Capone. Stone was obviously not a flight risk. His passport is not active. He was known to not poses any firearms. His charges did not include any violent charges. He has no history or any felony convictions. The way these ceases are handled is a call from the da to the suspects attorney is made to arrange time and place for a peaceful surrender.
So why all the heavy weapons. The only reason is for the government to threaten this person or any future person. This abuse of power is how the Soviet Union used to operate. The Nazis would also use force to intimidate people. Who ever arranged this military raid should be fired or arrested.. its understandable if you were dealing with terrorists, drug king pins or known serial murderers. In fact the unibomber was arrested with only a few federal agents. So this kind of massive abuse of rights and intimidation can’t happen here. It just did. Eric Garver
