A New Slogan For The Democrats (Part 2)
Well, they’ve got their new slogan. As pointed out in a recent post (A New Slogan For The Democrats, 7/6/18) Democrats have a new jingle:
Make America Beautiful Again!
Clever, isn’t it? I expect we’ll hear more of it during the run up to the midterm elections this coming autumn. And, I can just hear the chorus now:
Oh, how we pine for the “good old days” of America the beautiful.
Oh, how we LONG for those halcyon days of a Democratic Senate, House and Executive Branch!
Oh, what a MESS we’re in now!
Oh, how we miss the era of Barack and Hillary!
Oh, how we yearn for the “leadership” of Reid and Pelosi!
Lions and tigers and bears!
Oh, my!
Brandishing that slogan and hammering on those sentiments will, I predict, be the DNC strategy going into mid terms. But what does this longing for “yesteryear” REALLY mean? And, does America really want to go there?
Is a “beautiful America” one of pathetic economic growth (3% or less throughout the entire Obama presidency)? Of the highest minority unemployment since the Great Depression? Of DROPPING mean family incomes? Of decreasing home ownership?
Is a “beautiful America” one in which college grads have NO jobs? In which people are underemployed and woefully underpaid? In which workers are literally stuck in horrible jobs below their level of skill and experience? In which the ranks of those on government assistance have swelled?
Is a “beautiful America” one in which inner city residents are afraid to leave their homes? In which homicide rates in places like Chicago and St. Louis have reached heights never before achieved outside of warfare. In which our policemen and policewomen are ASSASSINATED? In which teenage hoodlums are made heroes? In which gang violence reaches new heights?
Is a “beautiful America” one in which our southern “border” is, literally, a joke? In which ANY migrant can infiltrate our country ILLEGALLY and then expect better treatment here than much of the world enjoys? In which multiply deported criminals can find safe haven? In which MS-13 gang members can enter our country illegally and then terrorize our citizens? In which savages from MS-13 hack two teenage GIRLS on Long Island to death with MACHETES?
Is a “beautiful America” one in which certain cities become not just “sanctuaries” but HIDEOUTS for illegal alien criminals whose infractions run from drunken driving, larceny, human trafficking, rape, violence and murder?
Is a “beautiful America” one in which we cower before adversaries like Iran, North Korea and Russia? In which Iran harasses our Navy and captures and HUMILIATES our sailors? In which we draw “red lines” and then don’t respond when they are crossed?
Is a “beautiful America” one in which we let Antifa groups menace our citizens? In which our youth no longer care to discuss and debate issues of national importance? In which people of different political beliefs are demonized, harassed or worse? In which traditions of free speech and the role of due process are shunned?
Is a “beautiful America” one in which criminality committed IN PLAIN SIGHT by the likes of Hillary Clinton, Loretta Lynch, Susan Rice, James Comey, Peter Strzok, Andrew McCabe and others, goes UNPUNISHED and IGNORED?
Is a “beautiful America” one in which media and news reporting has become so partisan and so disingenuous, that citizens no longer trust ANYTHING they are told?
Is a “beautiful America” one in which women are afraid to use the lady’s room, for fear of exposure to sexual perverts of many different stripes? In which young MALE athletes are outcompeting girls in scholastic sports because they get to compete as FEMALES in the gender category they IDENTIFY with?
Is a “beautiful America” all of these things? I think not, and I hope you don’t either. So, ladies and gentlemen, please keep this hidden reality in mind this fall when you hear that specious slogan, and DON’T be fooled. And don’t be afraid to talk it up. (This is still America and, at least for now, they can’t silence you).
