Immigration Karma
The term “karma” has many meanings in the Hindu and Buddhist religions. Dictionary.com lists one of the meanings as: “bringing upon oneself inevitable results, good or bad, either in this life, or (in Hinduism) in a reincarnation”. This term, sadly, would seem to apply to a recent victim of the out of control immigration policy that has plagued the European Union for several years.
Last week a young “Refugees Welcome” activist was brutally murdered by one of the refugees the EU had welcomed. The victim, Sophia Lösche, was a pretty 28 year old leftist Social Democrat leader (President of the Social Democrat’s local chapter) in the town of Bamberg, Germany.
She was a firm advocate of the “Refugees Welcome” movement, and not only did she advocate for that cause, but worked on the Greek island of Lesbos to help welcome scores of immigrants. Early in June she was hitchhiking back to her home town. She was last seen boarding a truck with Moroccan license plates in Schkeuditz, Germany. Her whereabouts were completely unknown for a week.
The perpetrator, identified, so far, only as Boujemaa L., is a mid-eastern “refugee”. He was detained in southern Spain , perhaps because of the Moroccan license plates, and soon became a suspect in Ms. Lösche’s disappearance. During further questioning he confessed to the murder. He provided the authorities with the location of the body, which has subsequently been recovered. Sources reported evidence of violence, and possible rape. The official autopsy report has yet to be released.
Is this sad tale just another example of naive and injudicious behavior by an idealistic young free spirit? No, it’s more than that.
Ms. Lösche’s actions do not belie just reckless behavior on a personal level. They have become emblematic of the naive and overly idealistic behavior of whole nations and, indeed, the entire EU.
Ms. Lösche worked for organizations that welcomed huge numbers of immigrants without any effective way of evaluating and vetting the people involved. Such advocacy is not just irresponsible, it’s DANGEROUS. Before their military defeat, ISIS boasted infiltrating 250,000 terrorists among the Syrian and North African “refugees”. Even if we assume that this boast is exaggerated, it does appear extremely likely that LARGE numbers of terrorists did enter the EU in this way.
I can’t help but think back to an iconic picture of German pro immigration activists with a large banner that read:
REFUGEES WELCOME!
THEY ARE NOT DANGEROUS!
THEY ARE IN DANGER!
Oh yeah? They’re NOT dangerous? How might you KNOW that they’re not dangerous? Even if one accepts the position that the MAJORITY of immigrants are kind and wonderful and industrious people, when accepting MILLIONS of them, how can you determine whether or not any individual migrant is or is not dangerous? Obviously, you can’t.
So, karma has the last word. Injudicious actions by an individual result in tragedy for that individual. Injudicious actions by nations can and will have the same result. Karma.
And, dear reader, don’t assume Ms. Lösche’s tragedy is unique. There are MANY examples. Migrants have murdered over ONE THOUSAND people in the EU since 2014, when they began keeping track (source: Ian Drury, Daily Mail, June 15, 2018). So there are MANY examples illustrating the theme of this essay that we could point to . But I’ll end with one other poignant example.
In April of 2008 an Italian artist by the name of Pippa Bacca traveled with a friend to Turkey with a plan to hitch hike through the Middle East to prove that its inhabitants were peaceful and not dangerous. Just three weeks into her escapade, she was, of course, raped and brutally murdered (source: The New York Times, April 19, 2008). Karma, once again. And, as the millennials are fond of saying: “Karma is a b***h”!
