No More “Conversation”
My wife was lamenting, recently, that political discourse in America has gotten to the point where we can’t have fruitful conversations about issues that concern our society and nation. She’s right, of course (Thanks LRM). But, after considering this for a while, I came upon a surprising response: “Good”! Here’s why…
It should be obvious to any American citizen with at least a half open mind, that the leftist propagandists, protestors and provocateurs (and their media cheerleaders) across our nation have become so hysterical, so confrontational and so just plain CRAZY, that the idea of having a civil “conversation” with them has become untenable.
Demonstrators (funded in many cases by George Soros and others through various front organizations) have been disrupting Town Halls across our nation chanting: “Resist…Resist…Resist!” or “Shame…Shame…Shame”! or other equally intelligent slogans. They have shouted over meeting convocations with Our Lord’s Prayer. They have even shouted over traditional opening recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance! Are these protestors against Town Halls? Are they against participatory DEMOCRACY??? Are they against America? Do they appear to be the type of people that we can have a civil “conversation” with?
At protest marches the banners they carry are also quite illustrative. Here are a few:

THIS IS WAR
NO ONE IS SAFE
KILL THE POLICE
Do these banners seem like they were made by people that we can have an even tempered “conversation” with?
But it goes beyond banners. There have been violence and even riots. On Inaguration Day rioters dressed in black face masks with sledge hammers and axes ran amuck in Washington, DC. In Berkeley, California, rioters protesting an upcoming conservative speech, vandalized stores, homes and property. Fires were started, and the firefighters and police were menaced. In Portland, Oregon and Oakland, California riots also took place. Do these participants seem like the type of people that would we can have a reasoned “conversation” with?
And, let’s not forget the dark and murderous undercurrent behind the so-called Black Lives Matter movement. Eleven police officers have been shot dead in, around, or soon after BLM demonstrations. And 9 more were wounded. Does anyone think we can have a “conversation” with these people?
And if you think this disgusting streak of blatant anti-Americanism is roiling only on the fringes of the liberal/progressive members of the Democratic Party, the same foul attitudes are rampant among the average middle of the road leftists as well. The so-called “intelligentsia” and main stream media have put their outrageous analyses and positions down in print. It took no more than a couple minutes on Google to find the following newspaper and magazine article HEADLINES:
1. The Daily News (2/18/16) had a full front page unflattering picture of Mr. Trump with the bold headline: “ANTICHRIST”!
2. Time Magazine (3/14/16) had an unflattering full front page picture of Mr. Trump with checked off boxes saying: bully, showman, party crasher and demagogue!
3. Adbusters had a full front page picture of Mr. Trump with a barcode superimposed on his upper lip to mimic Adolph Hitler’s mustache with the the bold headline: “Cool Fascismo”!
4. The Daily News (1/21/17) has another full front page picture of Mr. Trump with the bold headline: “INAGU-RAGE”!
5. The National Review (1/21/16) had a full front page filled with the following title in classy bold golden toned letters: “AGAINST TRUMP”!
6. New York Magazine (11/13/16) has a full front page unflattering picture of Mr. Trump with a bright red banner stamped over part of his face with the following word in bold lettering: “LOSER”!
And these domestic outrages pale in comparison to some on the international scene! A few examples:
7. The Hamburg Morgenpost (11/11/16) had yet another full front page unflattering picture of Mr. Trump with the following headline in bold orange letters “HORROR CLOWN”!
8. The newspaper Der Speigel (11/12/16) had a caricature of Mr. Trump as a large comet heading for earth with the following slogan translated as “THE END OF THE WORLD”!
9. And, perhaps the worst offender, an Irish political magazine called the “Village” had a full front page profile shot of Mr. Trump with a image of a rifle gun site target superimposed on his temple with the following headline in huge bold bright yellow letters: “WHY NOT”!
Do the authors of these articles and headlines seem like the type of people we can have a reasoned discussion with?
