A War of Words
>The Democrats have worked very hard, right from the beginning, to make this election cycle a war of words. The reasons for this are straight forward: 1) Words are Hillary’s ONLY asset. She has NO positive record to run on. She has NO cogent plan for our nation’s most serious problems. And she has NO charisma. Words are truly her ONLY weapon. And she IS very good with them. 2) Mr. Trump, on the other hand, despite correct positions on ALL the serious problems we face, is HORRIBLE with words! And indiscreet. Every single problem in his candidacy is a result of poorly phrased, poorly considered, poorly articulated communications. And so, the Clinton camp, in collusion with an extremely biased media, has fashioned this election into a war of words, and, unfortunately, a war of ONLY words. And, not surprisingly, on that front Trump looses. And badly.
>How a mind sharp enough to be the only current national politician that seems to have a grasp of the perilous position our country is in, both economically, and in terms of security, can so frequently foul up, for want of a polite word, his message, is truly astonishing. Part of the problem is, of course, that he has clever, duplicitous and malicious enemies from the left everywhere. This fact, however, does not excuse him, and it does not help him. Ronald Reagan faced a similar situation in the 80’s. However, Reagan, being a master communicator, was able to fend off his enemies and emerge triumphant. Mr. Trump, however, has no such gifts, and as a consequence, we see a defeat looming of epic proportions. The latest flap involves sophomoric and frankly offensive comments regarding the opposite sex. He has described these comments, in retrospect, as “locker room banter”, and I bet that braggadocio is ALL that they were (and, as such, should have been kept IN the locker room, NOT in an interview). Now, it’s important to be aware there’s NO evidence that Mr. Trump actually DID any thing wrong, as opposed to Bill Clinton, who has had multiple convincing accusations of actual RAPE (the kind that ended the career of Bill Cosby, for example) from many reliable victims (several of whom describe Mr. Clinton as having a curious and disgusting lip biting fetish!). And, although those accusations are leveled at MR. Clinton, and, as such, might not be considered germane to THIS election, several victims describe intimidating and harassing behavior from MRS. Clinton, which IS quite germane.
>Despite all of this, the election as it stands now remains firmly in the war of words mode, with the result that Mr. Trump is still loosing by a significant margin.
Although, conceivably, this gap could be made up in the next month, the odds of this would be slim (but, no more slim, say, than Brexit passing in England), even if things were going well. But the are NOT going well. Accordingly, I personally feel that Mr. Trump’s best strategy would be to bow out gracefully and SOON. He should hand the ball to Mike Pence who has many of Trump’s qualities and none of his liabilities. Pence has, I think, a significantly better chance of winning, and, if he does, Mr. Trump could be seen as a “King Maker” rather than the laughing stock image he would garner with a loss.
>Several prominent analysts have made similar suggestions. I have sent letters along these lines to both the Trump campaign and the RNC. Will they be headed? I doubt it, but I hope so. The stakes are high.
>To imagine our country with 550% more hostile immigrants welcomed through an open door policy, unchecked and uncleared Mexican migrants welcomed with a no border policy, unsupported and degraded police forces, more criminals on the streets, enemies abroad unchecked, our military further weakened, our Supreme Court made more liberal, and our economy further stifled is beyond frightening. It’s “unimaginable.” And that, dear readers, is exactly what Mrs. Clinton envisions for America.
>So, although I am hoping for a passing of the torch to Mr. Pence, I feel that, because of all of the “unimaginables” listed above, we MUST remember that this election in NOT a war of words. It’s a choice for the direction of our great Nation. If Mr. Pence becomes the candidate we must support him immediately and completely. If, on the other hand, Mr. Trump remains the candidate, we MUST, whether we like him or not, whether he is eloquent or not, whether his dictums are carefully considered or not, STILL go all out for him. This election is, in the last analysis, NOT a war of words. It’s the real thing. And, the alternative to a Republican presidency right now, IS, unimaginable.
