Obama, The Joke Man
I just viewed a portion of Mr. Obama’s speech today to law enforcement officers at the Eisenhower Office Building. Early in the speech he refers to the Munich massacre as the reason he was late. In his dry monotone he tells the audience that people “may have been injured” when he knew full well by that time that there were fatalities. He then goes into a statement (long overdue, I might add) about the importance of police work. He then segues quickly into a JOKE about his daughter going off to school. Shocking, callous indifference.
It was quite reminiscent of Obama’s response to the terrorism in Chattanooga, where he feigned sympathy for the cameras and less than an hour latter was YUCKING IT UP with buddies on the golf course.
Numerous episodes like this have many people asking if he’s on medications or drugs. There are certainly enough rumors flying around, and I have my own suspicions. Reputedly he’s on an upper called called Provigil, which is usually used to control narcolepsy. Supposedly, it’s to help him work longer, but this, I believe, is really a dodge. In my opinion, he’s on it to avert incapacitating depression. He certainly was CLOSE. Think back to his first year in office. As the year went on, his affect became more and more flat. His voice became monotone and lacked prosody. He looked clinically depressed. Then, all of a sudden, violá, over a months time he became livelier. And, soon, he became, what appeared to be, hypomanic. Pretty scary to think the President Of The United State’s mood might be controlled by a box of pills.
