Don’t Call Them Democrats, And NEVER Call Them Liberals, Part One
At a convivial dinner party some months ago, one of the guests defiantly admitted that “I’m a liberal.” At that point I responded: “That’s okay… as long as you’re not a leftist or a Democrat, which are no longer “liberal” in the true sense of the word.” He chuckled but immediately understood what I was getting at. The core values of liberalism were laid out by philosopher John Lock and were enshrined in the First Amendment to our Constitution. They include Freedom of Speech, freedom to worship, freedom of assembly, and freedom to petition the government,
Locke also included individual liberty, private property, freedom of conscience, and the pursuit of happiness. The so-called Democrat Party, driven by the radical leftists that now control it, have attacked every single one of these freedoms.
Freedom of speech is in most jeopardy. Any speech that the leftists don’t like is immediately branded “hate speech,” and it is censored, shadow banned, or shouted down. What’s worse, tactics such as doxing, intimidation and outright threats (burning Teslas for example), carry the day. Going further than just threats are assassinations (activist Charlie Kirk, United Health Care CEO Brian Thompson) and assassination attempts (President Trump TWICE). All these heinous acts have been embraced and cheered on by all leftists and many “main stream” Democrats as well..
Freedom of worship is also under attack. The recent leftist attack on worshippers during MASS in Minnesota speaks for itself. And don’t forget that on August 27, 2025 a leftist gunman, also in Minnesota, open fire on SCHOOL CHILDREN at prayer, KILLING two and injuring dozens. (Satan appears to be on quite a run in Minnesota).
Private property is also under siege directly via riots with massive property damage and looting, and indirectly via taxation laws that steal from taxpayers to enrich Democrat, BLM and Somali fraudsters.
Freedom of assembly is also under fire with violent left wing counter demonstrations, making it dangerous or impossible to assemble and advocate conservative causes.
Freedom of conscience is also threatened. Leftist judges had stripped organizations like Little Sisters of the Poor of freedom of conscience by requiring that their hospitals perform abortions, which they regard as sin.
Freedom to petition also is under attack. Moms and Dads that petitioned school boards to stop indoctrinating their children with the woke agenda, were investigated, spied upon and harassed by the Biden Department of Justice, and the IRS.
And, as far as the pursuit of happiness, well, who can be feel safe, secure and happy with all this nefarious activity going on?
