Election 2024 Post Mortem, Part Four
NEW FOUND SAVVY
Another factor that came into play in Election 2024 is the apparent increase in sophistication of the voting public. No more were votes determined by instructions from the legacy media, union leadership or celebrities. Voters increasingly decided to make up their OWN MINDS. And, adding to this more independent frame of mind, there was the blossoming of a healthy skepticism. All the hyperbole and name calling didn’t ring true for many. “Gee, Trump doesn’t ACT like he’s Hitler. He never censored ANYONE like Hitler. He never imprisoned ANYONE like Hitler. He hasn’t done anything racist to ANYONE like Hitler. Maybe, just maybe, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NYT, WaPo aren’t giving us the straight story. Hmm…”
SAD
Although many of us FELT it, few would SAY it: Putting such an obviously unqualified woman as Kamala Harris through, what must have been three months of torture, was unspeakably cruel. Pelosi, Schumer, Obama, and the uncaring media, should hang their heads in shame.
CAUTIONARY
This whole sad Democrat campaign should be cautionary: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) might sound wonderful, but, it must never bypass meritocracy. At some point DEI candidates MUST have the skills and ability to do the job. Kamala, unfortunately, is a poster child for DEI. It’s too bad that her lack of qualifications was not appreciated sooner. For her AND America.
DOUBLING DOWN
Amazingly, after Trump’s LANDSLIDE VICTORY, you would THINK that the Democrats would do some soul searching and look toward changing their platform and priorities so that they might be more in accord with the manifest will of the American people. You would THINK that. However, in the immortal words of John Belushi: “But Nooooooooo!” No way! Not happening. It appears that the Democrats and leftists and “progressives” are…“DOUBLING DOWN!” Not only do they continue to espouse their vile agenda (sexualization of children, men in women’s locker rooms, males competing in female sports, allowing unvetted migration, cashless bail, siding with criminals over victims, denigrating religion and a host of other terrible policies) they appear to have become increasingly shrill and unhinged. And, with an eye toward the future, you would THINK that they would want to try to bring disaffected Democrat/Independents turned Republican voters for Trump (especially women, blacks & Hispanics) back “into the Democrat fold, that they wouldn’t start by calling those new Republican voters ignorant, uneducated, racist, and bigots, which, amazingly, is EXACTLY what the Democrats, leftists and “progressives” have been doing! Geniuses!
REBIRTH
The 2024 election also signals something else: the birth of a brand NEW Republican Party. As of November fifth, 2024, the GOP is no longer the party of billionaires and business tycoons (Marc Cuban and Michael Bloomberg take note). It has become, instead, the party of working Americans. Trump has, in essence, forged a new alliance. An alliance that I am proud to be a part of.
ELUSIVE JOY
Think about something else: Joy! The Democrats kept PROMISING it. They built a sizable chunk of their campaign around it. But, in the end, they didn’t deliver. The entire Harris/Walz campaign felt like a joyless, airless trudge through the swamp of wokeness and veiled antisemitism, led by the ghost of of a tuberculin Karl Marx. By contrast, Trump brought in energy, enthusiasm, humor (whether by cooking French fries at McDonalds or driving a garbage truck) and, yes, JOY. It all felt good and FUN for a change.
HISTORY BY THE HORNS
Finally, while it’s tempting to look at the 2024 election “big picture” and say that election 2024 was simply Democracy “fixing itself,” it’s important, however, to recognize that the “repair” would NOT HAVE HAPPENED but for the fierce dedication and determination of one man: Donald J. Trump. Mr. Trump withstood two impeachment “trials,” dozens of meritless legal challenges, a venomous media that besmirched and castigated him at every turn, two assassination attempts, and, God knows what anxiety and trepidation all of this may have caused. But, as the Russian dissident Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn once said: “What ever does not destroy me makes me stronger.” Like Solzhenitsyn, Trump became stronger the more travail he faced. Like Solzhenitsyn he truly is a GIANT. One historian, referring back to King Henry the Eighth, once said that King Henry was one of the few men that could “grab history by the horns and bend it to his will.” President Donald J. Trump is another. And not a moment too soon. May God bless and guide him. And, may God bless America.
