They Don’t Dare Say It
Dear readers, in a society where every form of profanity is commonplace, every type of insult is tolerated, and every manner of slander is encouraged, there is one phrase that’s absolutely verboten. Our media doesn’t use it. Our politicians don’t use it. Our writers and commentators don’t use it. Even our law enforcement personnel don’t use it. No matter how correct the term might be, and how appropriate its usage, NO ONE utters the phrase. What phrase am I thinking of?… It’s “LEFT wing extremism.” That’s it!… “LEFT wing extremism.” And this omission is especially ironic because the opposite of that phrase, “Right wing extremism,” is UBIQUITOUS. It seems that ANYONE that supports the second amendment is a “right wing extremist.” Anyone that stands up for free speech is… a right wing extremist. Heck, to some, anyone that votes REPUBLICAN is a right wing extremist. But, when the extremism comes from the left we hear… nothing.
This week one Robert James shot 10 people on a crowded New York subway and injured 19 others. In due course he was apprehended and his history and personality were investigated by law enforcement, the media and internet sleuths as well. James was found to posses an array of firearms and explosives and appears to have planned his attack with great care. He was found to have a social media account in which he railed against Donald Trump, Trump supporters and law enforcement. Could this man be… a LEFT WING EXTREMIST?… Maybe, just maybe, he might. But, has anyone of my readers heard mention of the term, “Left Wing Extremist” applied to him?… No?… I thought not. Why? Well, politicians, the media and our so called “intelligentsia” like to pretend leftist extremism doesn’t EXIST. According to them, ALL extremism is from the right, you see. And this clandestine deception isn’t rare.
Recall that on June 14, 2017, a James Hodgkinson shot 4 conservative members of Congress including House Majority Whip, Steve Scalise, at a CHARITY FUNDRAISER BASEBALL GAME. His social media posts reeked with leftist rants. But, how was Hodgkinson classified by the FBI?… In their final report of the incident, the FBI states, verbatim, that Hodgkinson was “a domestic violent extremist.” Notice the absence of the term “left wing.” And how did the FBI classify Hodgkinson’s political philosophy?… Again, verbatim, it was described as a “personalized violent ideology.” “PERSONALIZED?” Please! In the official report, the term “right wing extremism” was nowhere to be found. (Source: en.m.wikipedia.org)
And, when hundreds, perhaps thousands of anti American rioters tore our cities apart in the “George Floyd Riots” during the summer of 2020, causing 25 deaths (source: www.thegaurdian.com) and BILLIONS of dollars of property damage, does ANYONE recall hearing the term “Left Wing Extremists” applied to them?… I don’t either.
And, when left wing members of “Antifa” menaced Trump supporters throughout the 2016 campaign, and then later exploded violently across America after Trump’s election, we heard again and again how “Antifa” wasn’t “organized” and how “Antifa” was an IDEA, and that they had “no fixed ideology” and so forth, rather than their being the left wing extremism that it was. No mention, what-so-ever, of “left wing extremism” was made.
Even the Black Lives Matter movement gets a pass. Despite the fact that both co-founders of BLM, Patrisse Cullors and Alicia Garza are SELF AVOWED Marxists (Source Wikipedia.org), and despite the fact that the organization fomented violence across America, one doesn’t hear that BLM is “left wing extremist!” I can’t imagine what else you might call it.
So, ladies and gentlemen, “left wing extremism,” is alive and kicking in America. Just don’t be foolish enough to call it that.
