Notes From Battlefield 2020

•>First, THE DEBATE
Tuesday’s presidential debate between President Trump and former Vice President Biden featured numerous contretemps. The mutual animosity was plain to see. But, the surprising thing was that, although Mr. Trump often favors the use of belittling sobriquets aimed at his adversaries, most of the name calling on Tuesday night came from the supposedly “decent guy” Joe Biden. At various times in the proceedings Biden, amazingly, called Mr. Trump, verbatim, a “CLOWN”, a “RACIST”, a “FOOL”, and “PUTIN’S PUPPY!” I have two comments on this. First, although such epithets are unheard of in presidential debates, there was essentially NO MENTION of this startling lack of control in post debate commentary. Apparently, it’s OK to use such language if you’re a Democrat! Which brings me to a second point: namely, that name calling is THE essential leftist strategy. Rather than discuss or debate issues on their merits, leftists and progressives simply resort to invective: “racists”, “white supremacists” (some times applied, incredulously, even to BLACK activists they don’t like, such as Candace Owens!), “pigs”, “imperialists”, etc. Liberals, it would seem, think calling a sitting president a “clown” is proper debate form! Such tactics in the past used to be deplored and dismissed by pundits as “ad hominem”, but I doubt that today’s leftists even know what that term means.

Two other donnybrooks are worth mentioning. Neither one, by the way, was instigated by Mr. Trump. The first concerned intellectual ability. Mr. Trump pointed out that Biden was at the bottom of his law school class, which is TRUE (Biden was 76th out of 85. Source: The Los Angeles Times, January 1, 1987). If the reader thinks that it was mean of Mr. Trump to bring that up, consider this: mental ability and academic performance are right and proper topics to explore when vetting a candidate for the world’s most intellectually demanding job. AND, Mr. Trump went there ONLY after Biden, incredulously, implied that he (Biden) was SMARTER than Trump. At which point Mr. Trump (who, although disputed by some commentators, was reported in THE NEW YORK TIMES in January, 1973, as having graduated first in his class at the prestigious Wharton School of Business of the ivy league University of Pennsylvania) referred to Biden’s poor performance and then proceeded to eat Biden’s lunch: “There’s nothing smart about you, Joe.”

The second squabble involved Biden’s son, Hunter. Mr. Trump pointed out that Hunter Biden was dishonorably discharged from the military, which, again is TRUE (drug use and “conduct unbecoming” were the problems). If the reader, again, thinks this was excessively mean spirited, consider this: Mr. Trump went there only after Biden went on and on about what a patriot his son was. And, Hunter Biden’s history IS a right and proper topic to explore in this context because of the way he (Hunter) obtained lucrative financial benefits from Ukraine, China and Russia, WHILE HIS FATHER WAS VICE PRESIDENT and was involved in policy decisions involving these countries. The conflict of interest this implies for then Vice President Biden is obvious. Such nepotism would and should be seen as a stain on Joe Biden’s integrity.

Another observation regarding the debate is the obvious partisanship of the moderator, Chris Wallace. Wallace’s anti Trump bias has been apparent in his commentary for years. A recent example, that shows his bias remains strong, occurred after the wildly successful Republican National Convention, when Wallace could only carp about things like mask wearing and that Trump’s speech was too long, etc., and was unable to report anything about it in a positive light), but the DEGREE to which he let his bias show on Tuesday was amazing. Just consider the questions Wallace allowed Biden NOT to answer: Whether he (Biden) would try to “pack the Supreme Court.” should he win. Whether he supports “Black Lives Matter.” Whether he’s really for LAW AND ORDER or not. Whether he can name ONE law enforcement organization that supports him., etc. Good questions, undoubtedly. But Wallace didn’t press Biden on ANY of them. And, the piece de resistance in this regard occurred when Mr. Trump focused on Biden’s self ADMITTED nepotism regarding his son Hunter. Though Biden now denies it, the video evidence is clear: Joe Biden BOASTED ON VIDEO TAPE that he got the Ukrainian prosecutor investigating his son FIRED. The video can be accessed through the following link:

So, when Mr. Trump was focusing on the critically important topic of Biden’s ETHICS, Wallace cut the questioning short, saying that Americans would “rather hear about more important topics”! What the heck???? More important than ethics????… Mr. Wallace, you should be ASHAMED of yourself.

And, regarding the debate, there’s one more thing I’d like to discuss. Over the past couple of weeks there’s been a bizarre twist, and this one boggles the mind. I was alerted to the “twist” by a loyal reader (thanks RA) and, I must admit, I was initially quite skeptical. The but more I looked into it, however, the more plausible it seemed. Biden’s inability to complete a sentence and his muddled and inappropriate answers to questions that were so evident in May, June and July terrified the Democratic National Committee. It concerned them so much that an amazingly radical solution was agreed upon: they had to find a way to “tele-prompt” Biden because conventional teleprompters are prohibited in presidential debates. This strategy actually harkens back to the Trump/Hillary debates in 2006 where a radio based auditory system delivered prompts to Hillary in real time throughout the debates. The receiver was clearly visible on her lumbar spine through a carelessly tight red dress as were the wires leading to a short range antenna around her neck which broadcast the prompts to a specially designed in the ear “hearing aid.” Going one step better, the Biden team decided to use up to the minute hearing aid technology that’s implanted into the skull near the ear and which uses a bone conduction principle to deliver auditory information that is only audible to the individual with the implant. Although this seems like science fiction, the technology exists, has been patented, and is on the market and currently available. It even has a name: it’s called the Esteem Hearing Implant system. It is used for patients for which conventional hearing aids are inadequate. And you can actually BUY one of these devices and have it implanted NOW. You can find a discussion of this technology on Audiology Online:

https://www.audiologyonline.com/ask-the-experts/who-candidate-for-esteem-hearing-12551

The speculation is that Biden had this prompting technology implanted during his mysterious and unexplained 3 week gap in appearances in July. One of the “tip offs” that this technology is being used is the fact that information gathering systems in the brain can only focus on one information stream at a time. When Biden is receiving information from the Esteem, it’s essentially impossible to listen to the prompts and focus on his opponent at the same time. As a consequence, HE LOOKS DOWN to allow him to focus on the prompts. In the video footage of the debate, one can clearly see that Biden invariably looks down before answering a question. He does this an awful lot. And, remember, debate candidates CAN’T BRING NOTES to the debate (source: prospect.org), so his looking down is NOT to check his own notes. Why, then, does he look down so much? The implanted teleprompter would be THE explanation.

And, prior to the start of the debate, President Trump requested that the debate committee require that an independent and nonpartisan ear, nose and throat specialist examine both him and Biden for signs of implantation. He also asked that both he and Biden have a independent and non partisan administered drug test looking for performance enhancing medications. BIDEN REFUSED BOTH! The obvious question that immediately comes to mind: WHAT IS BIDEN TRYING TO HIDE?

•>Next, WHERE’S THE ENTHUSIASM?

Last weekend I had the occasion to drive through large portions of Vermont and Massachusetts on weekend holiday. During the drive I made a pretty startling observation. No, my observation WASN’T the rarity of TRUMP 2020 signs. There were, in fact, very few of those. But that’s not surprising. Vermont, after all, is the land of Bernie Sanders and Massachusetts is the realm of the late uber Democrat, Edward Kennedy. What WAS surprising is the LACK of BIDEN/HARRIS signs! After a total of six or seven hours of driving in Vermont, following secondary (and scenic) roads through many towns, villages and cities, and four hours of the same in Massachusetts, I saw only THREE BIDEN/HARRIS signs in Vermont and only TWO in Massachusetts! I contrast this with the HUGE number of signs I had seen at a comparable campaign date for OBAMA/BIDEN and the very large number of signs I had seen for GORE/LIEBERMAN and, even, KERRY/EDWARDS. The level of enthusiasm, ladies and gentlemen, for BIDEN/HARRIS appears, by comparison, to be AWFULY LOW!

•>Last, ANOTHER NOBEL NOMINATION

Because you may not hear of this elsewhere, President Trump has just received his THIRD nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. On September 29 a group of Australian legal scholars, headed by Jurist David Flint, nominated President Trump for promulgating what they term to be the “Trump Doctrine,” which they praised for disentangling America from “endless wars” which “achieve nothing but the killing of thousands of young Americans.” (The Nobel Committee allows nominations from law professors and members of the parliaments of any country). This makes THREE Nobel Peace Prize nominations for the President in just the month of September. Wow!

•>So, ladies and gentlemen, my conclusion from all of this:

GO TRUMP/PENCE 2020!
