Sometimes Things Are Not What They Seem
The recently leaked officer body cam video of the arrest of George Floyd that was obtained by the United Kingdom newspaper, the Daily Mail, confirms much of what the already publicized witness cell phone videos show. But the new footage, reveals something more. Something that, when considered with important autopsy findings, is VERY relevant to determining exactly what killed Mr. Floyd.
Before taking a look at the new evidence, I’d like to recapitulate a point I made in a previous essay that I posted on this case back on June 3. The point I made in that essay is simple: it’s actually HARD to asphyxiate someone by pressure on the neck FROM JUST ONE SIDE. And it’s pretty much impossible to do so without breaking the hyoid bone, the thyroid cartridge and the tracheal cartilaginous rings (none of which, by final autopsy report, were broken in Floyd’s case). Although an “independent” autopsy commissioned by the Floyd family concluded that the death was from asphyxiation, the above noted findings argue against it. And, even though Floyd repeated numerous times that he couldn’t breathe, he was clearly moving enough air to vocalize loudly. Moving that amount of air would also argue AGAINST asphyxiation being the cause of death. But, if asphyxiation didn’t kill Mr. Floyd, what did? That’s where two more recent facts become very important.
The first is the toxicology. George Floyd was found, at autopsy, to have an extremely high blood level of the drug fentanyl, one of the strongest narcotics ever created. Floyd’s fentanyl level was ELEVEN nanograms per milliliter. The following screen capture is taken from the actual George Floyd autopsy report which is available on line.
FATAL fentanyl overdoses have been reported with as little as THREE nanograms per ml. In an interview with WKARE 11 TV, the Hennepin County Pathologist on the case, Dr. Andrew Baker, stated that the 11 nanogram level would normally be considered to be FATAL IN ITS OWN RIGHT. Now, I’ve read a number of articles by commentators (who seem to me to have “axes to grind”) that try to downplay or even ignore this finding. Some say that the toxicology has to viewed in “context,” or some such nonsense. In my opinion, the incontrovertible “context” is that the man had NEARLY FOUR TIMES A LETHAL DOSE OF FENTANYL PROVEN IN HIS BLOOD STREAM AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH. Which brings us to the second vital point.
On a number of body cam images, Floyd appears to have a white substance on his lips. The reader can get a sense for this finding in the following still frame from the video:
And, to prove that the images are not some type of reflection or video artifact, at 5:53/30.11 (in the Daily Mail footage), one of the officers looking directly at Mr. Floyd, after asking him if he was “on something,” points out that he (Floyd) was “even foaming at the mouth,” to use his exact words. That officer clearly saw SOMETHING very abnormal on Floyd’s lips, so that white appearance must have been real, not a video artifact. The possibility that Floyd ingested a lethal dose of fentanyl in order to eliminate evidence of drug possession can not be dismissed out of hand.
And, here’s the kicker. As pointed out to me by an anesthesiologist: one of the most prominent side effects of an over dose of fentanyl is… CHEST WALL RIGIDITY. The drug itself causes the chest muscles to tighten making respiration difficult or impossible. Sometimes this effect is so strong, that doctors treating such a patient must give neuromuscular paralyzing drugs to reverse the rigidity and allow adequate ventilation. What would an awake patient experience in the face of such chest wall rigidity?… They would experience the feeling that “I CAN’T BREATHE!” And, remember, Floyd begins saying that he can’t breathe BEFORE he’s on the ground, and, in fact, he begins complaining that he can’t breathe BEFORE he even get’s in (and out) of the squad car. The chest rigidity complaints appear to begin about 5 minutes or so after the suspected ingestion, which would be about the right interval for the absorption of this extremely potent narcotic.
So, ladies and gentlemen, sometimes THINGS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM. A lethal dose of fentanyl may have been the real culprit here, killing Mr. Floyd. As we were so often taught in school, DRUGS KILL. And the sad thing here is not only that drugs killed Floyd, but they tarnished the lives of all the officers misfortunate enough to have gotten the dispatch to the scene, and, in today’s politically charged climate, unleashed untold havoc on the land.
This is the true story of what really happened . Thank you this is the truth thank you I will share this with friends … Thank you Bob
