Much Ado About Nothing
Day in and day out a cadre of Democrat illusionists and their lackey’s in the press corps are trying like the dickens to create impeachment drama. Secret testimony! Ooo! Meetings behind closed doors. Oooo! Witnesses under duress! Ooooo! Ambassador Sondland said maybe there WAS quid pro quo! Oooooo! Former Ambassador Yovanovitch felt “INTIMIDATED” by the President! Well, boo hoo hoo, toots! Open door proceeding to follow next week! Ooooooo!
The fact remains, none-the-less, that nothing of any real substance is going on. Not only has nothing illegal been found, what HAS been found doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. It really doesn’t matter, does it, if Sondland felt there WAS quid pro quo in President Trump’s communication with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky? The point is that the ZELENSKY didn’t perceive any such pressure. THAT’S what counts. NOT Sondland’s interpretation. And, does it really matter if Yovanovitch felt “intimidated” by the President? Well, who in the world ISN’T a bit intimidated by their BOSS?
This whole business is built upon premises that are patently false. Encouraging the Ukrainian government to investigate criminal corruption in its ranks is NOT illegal. If it were, it would also be wrong, for example, to encourage Mexico to investigate (and prosecute) its drug cartels and the corrupt government officials that enable them. The fact that Presidential Candidate Biden’s son was involved is completely irrelevant. Criminal investigations in the Ukraine should go wherever they need to go and the chips can fall where they may. And, though Ukraine’s President has indicated AGAIN AND AGAIN that there was NO quid pro quo, assume for purposes of argument, that there was pressure from Mr. Trump on Ukrainian jurisprudence; that’s NOT illegal! If it were, American pressure, for example, on Mexico to extradite notorious drug lord Joaquin “el Chapo” Guzman to the United States (because Mexico was, after not one but TWO escapes, apparently incapable of keeping him incarcerated) would also be illegal. And, if one steps back a bit, it’s also apparent that whatever alleged pressure Mr. Trump may or may not have exerted on the Ukraine’s system of justice, it is ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENT from Joe Biden’s pressure on the Ukraine to fire the prosecutor that was investigating his son. Biden clearly, unambiguously, indicated that he caused the Government of the Ukraine to fire the prosecutor by threatening to hold back 2 BILLION dollars of US aid. Further, the idea that it’s wrong for 2020 Candidate Trump to “dig up dirt” on his political opponents is absurd. Doing so is called “opposition research” and is now an essential feature of all modern political contests. Remember Fusion GPS? Democrats, apparently, don’t. Remember Christopher Steel and the foreign (RUSSIAN) INTELLIGENCE AGENTS who were used to try to dig up dirt on Mr. Trump, and were PAID FOR BY HILLARY’S CLINTON’S CAMPAIGN (through it’s law firm, Perkins Coie)? Democrats don’t. Remember FBI AGENTS Lisa Page and Peter Strzok’s plan to use government agencies to attack Mr. Trump if, perchance, he won the Presidency (as a so-called “insurance policy”)? Democrats don’t. And there is much, much more. And all of this “mysterious amnesia” exists because the Democrats are guilty of PRECISELY what they are accusing Mr. Trump of.
In any sane society this blatant double standard should be recognized as such and should be rejected forthwith. Despite all of the drama, all the insinuations, all the subterfuge, real Americans MUST start to ask a very simple question: WHO CARES??? And, they should realize that, as William Shakespeare might put it, ALL of it is “Much Ado About Nothing.”
