Raising The Barr
Written in conjunction with guest writer LRM
The Attorney General of the United States, William Barr, was the subject of yet another Democratic display of arrogance, self-righteousness and just plain rudeness. He complied with a request to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding the accuracy of his four page summary of the Mueller report. To say he was “grilled” by the committee is an understatement. It was more like “flambéed”. He was called a liar, Trump’s “water boy” and a host of other demeaning names by hostile committee members. Conveniently, a letter from Mr Mueller to Mr. Barr was “leaked” the night before his testimony. In that communication Mr Mueller took issue with the “nuances” of Mr. Barr’s summary, but did NOT take issue with its accuracy. Mr. Barr comported himself with dignity during the five hours of hostile questioning and outright insults, although he did comment that the tone of the letter from Mr. Mueller was “snitty” and he felt it had probably been written by a staffer.
According to the Democrats on the committee, “Barr has lost credibility with Congress and the American people” and should, therefore, immediately recuse himself, or, better yet, resign!
But, what’s really behind all this animus? These statements reflect nothing so much as desperation on the part of the Democrats. It’s obvious that they want him out of office very badly. They appear to be terrified that he will expose the real truth behind the Mueller investigation and will connect the dots all the way back to Hillary Clinton’s campaign, perhaps Hillary herself, and even former President Barack Obama. This is the real reason the Congressional Democrats are so determined to trash Attorney General Barr’s reputation and credibility, following the old adage that the best defense is a good offense.
By now we all know that the Mueller investigation failed to find any evidence of collusion between the 2016 Trump presidential campaign and the Russians, despite two years of exhaustive investigation and coercion of American citizens. And it’s obvious that Mueller’s group was extraordinarily motivated to find collusion. In response to the demise of the collusion myth, the Democrats have pivoted to the charge of “obstruction of justice” instead. The trouble for the Democrats is, however, that it is a matter of law that justice can not be obstructed if NO CRIME WAS COMMITTED. This point was recently made by Harvard legal scholar, Alan Dershowitz. So, without evidence of a crime, the truth is that there is no obstruction of justice either.
Thinking about firing Mueller and even talking about it with staffers does not constitute a crime. Mueller was given everything he needed, including $35 million to complete his investigation and make it public. President Trump was under no obligation to publish it. In fact the only thing more “transparent “ than this whole process was the Democrats unbridled hatred of Mr. Trump!
Nevertheless, there are serious flaws in the Mueller report. Despite leaving “no stone unturned” in investigating collusion, the report does not even explain the reason why Mr. Trump and his campaign were placed under investigation in the first place. The “evidence” was flimsy at best. As it turns out, it all rested on the infamous “Steele dossier”, a fabricated report written by “opposition research” firm Fusion GPS, gussied up by Christopher Steel, and PAID for by the Clinton campaign. That’s right. The investigation and surveillance of American citizens was based on a document paid for by Trump’s opposition. And the Mueller report neglects to examine this or even MENTION it.
Mr. Barr, however, won’t neglect it. He’s all over it and has already started a Department of Justice investigation. The Democrats are truly panicking. Stay tuned.
And, the ultimate irony in this story: Barr is being accused of acting as the President’s “personal attorney”. Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, has threatened to charge him with contempt of Congress for failing to show up for another “barbecue “, this time in the House Of Representatives. If Pelosi does charge him with contempt, he won’t be alone. In 2012, then Attorney General Eric Holder, serving under President Obama, was found to be in contempt of Congress for failing to turn over subpoenaed documents on the disastrous “Fast and Furious“ operation. The contempt citation didn’t seem to bother him much, though. In fact, he proudly stated “I’m still the President’s wing man and I’m with my boy.” This declaration didn’t seem to bother Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler THEN. Why so now?… Three guesses.
SO, HANG IN THERE MR. BARR! America needs the whole truth to come out, not just the half truth that the mainstream media wants to print. Clearly, certain members of the FBI and the Department of Justice felt themselves to be above the law, and THIS is the danger to our democracy, not Mr. Trump’s tweets.
