Short comments on the current political scene:
1: As unlikely as it may seem, “weird Uncle” Joe Biden seems to have come out of the woodwork. Recently, he’s remarked that he’s “the most qualified person in America to be President”! And the sad truth is, ladies and gentlemen, that he’s probably right! (At least among the Democrats).
2: She’s at it again. Maize Hirono (Democrat Congresswoman from Hawaii) recently explained that the reason that Democrats have not “connected” with the American public is because “Democrats ARE SO SMART”! Well, well, well! That would seem to indicate exactly how the Democrats view the American electorate, doesn’t it? This outrageous claim comes on top of her last outrageous claim, during the Kavanaugh confirmation “process”, that “ALL woman accusers of male sexual misconduct need “not to just be listened to, but they MUST be BELIEVED.” That’s right, she said ALL of them! Every one! So, I’m not sure what to make of her disparaging assessment of American voter intelligence, but it does seem obvious that Hirono, herself, isn’t very bright.
3. And last, I must say that I am a bit amused by all the insincere accolades being offered by liberal commentators on the passing of George H. W. Bush. Especially since NONE of those commentators had ANYTHING good to say about the man while he was living. It should be obvious, even to sleepy followers of contemporary politics, that the only reason these kudos were spoken was to be a foil with which to compare and disparage President Trump, who’s style is, admittedly, very different. But, keep in mind one fact: 41, with all his patrician grace and bearing, failed to get himself re-elected DESPITE ending the Cold War, building international coalitions, improving a skidding economy and humiliating Saddam Hussein in a well executed and limited military engagement with an incredibly low American casualty count. On the other hand, 45 got himself elected DESPITE every single possible obstacle that had been put in his way. As they used to say: “Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it!”
