Cannot Let It Go
All of us have a certain degree of sympathy for losers. All of us have had failure of one sort or another in our lives and we can recall the bitter taste of defeat. We instinctually understand the denial and the anger and the need to make excuses and deflect blame by the unfortunate soul that came up short. But there ARE limits to our empathetic nature. There comes a time when even the most sympathetic of us reaches a saturation. There comes a point when we expect the loser to “buck up” and move on. Or if not “buck up” then, at least, SHUT UP.
I believe most of us have reached that point with our former First Lady (and perpetual candidate) Hillary Clinton. It’s been nearly 18 months since her spectacular electoral defeat, and the fact of the matter is: she CAN’T LET IT GO! She ABSOLUTELY CANNOT LET IT GO! One would have thought that, by now, she’d have become tired from incessantly beating the dead horse, but, apparently not.
For pretty much all of 2017 she played a blame game: I lost because of James Comey. Or, I lost because of WiKi leaks. Or, I lost because of Russian meddling. Or, I lost because (get this) of a media conspiracy. All of these excuses are untenable, of course, but we can understand her need to deflect blame from the real reasons she lost: that she presented herself to the American people as a bitter, dishonest and spiteful individual of no particular distinction with a criminal history and fundamentally the wrong prescriptions for America’s ills. So, she can, perhaps, be forgiven for these embarrassing attempts at scapegoating.
But over the past month or so, she’s taken her deceitful campaign to new heights (or new lows depending on one’s perspective).
One of the most ludicrous recent claims she made recently is that: WOMEN VOTED FOR TRUMP BECAUSE THEIR HUSBANDS TOLD THEM TO!!!! Hah! That’s a good one! One of the characteristics of contemporary American society is that modern women seldom if EVER do ANYTHING their husbands tell them to! And, they certainly don’t do it in the privacy and security of a voting booth!
Another of her recent ludicrous claims is that Fox News is trying to have her impeached. She was video recorded a couple of days ago saying that “Some one should tell Fox News that since I no longer have a government position, I can no longer be impeached.” This is, of course, quite true. My response to this statement of hers, however, is as follows: “RELAX Ms. Clinton. NOBODY is trying to have you impeached…..We ARE, however, trying to have you ARRESTED.”
