Truth Serum For Democrats
It was a tour de force. President Trump’s first State of the Union was a victory lap for himself and the Republican Party, certainly, but more importantly, was truth serum for the Democratic Party.
The Democrats talk a good game. They claim to be patriots. They claim to love our country. They claim to represent black and hispanics. They claim to want the best for America. They claim all of the above. And they are often quite successful in this deception. But that ALL changed tonight. President Trump’s speech tonight was nothing less than an injection of truth serum right into the heart of the Democratic Party. And the results were striking. The truth serum brought out their true colors. And all of the deceptions listed above were shown to be just that. The Democrats appeared so sorry and sad. As we used to say as kids: the truth hurts.
Now, the reactions of the so called Democratic “leaders” were, of course, predictable. Chuck Schumer looked like he was having intestinal problems. Bernie Sanders appeared to be suffering from underwear that was way too tight. Nancy Pelosi looked like she wasn’t entirely sure what was actually going on around her. And many of the front row Dem’s looked like their dog died. Earlier tonight. Run over. By a steam roller. Slowly. So all of the above isn’t really surprising. What is surprising, however, is the response of the Democratic rank and file to a host of benchmarks that SHOULD have been cheered by all:
Their response to the lowest black unemployment ever recorded: nothing.
Their response to the lowest hispanic unemployment ever recorded: nothing.
Their response to a dramatic drop in unemployment among women: nothing.
Their response to dropping crime rates: nothing.
Their response to a cavalcade of corporations coming back to America: nothing.
Their response to a surging economy: nothing.
Their response to tax reduction for the middle class: nothing.
And, lastly, their response to the speech as a whole: an absolutely inane speech by Joe Kennedy III. He appeared on the verge of tears through out his whole speech and spewed bombastic critiques of President Trump that sounded fiery but made no sense what-so-ever. Despite the Kennedy name, his performance was actually embarrassing. I couldn’t help remembering a quote from former vice presidential candidate Lloyd Bentsen: “You’re no Jack Kennedy.”
So, the truth serum did its job. And the truth hurts.
