Have Some More Rope!
Last night’s State Of The Union Address was criticized and ridiculed by the Democratic Party en masse (their response was epitomized by an inane and even embarrassing speech by none other than Kennedy heir Joe the third).
It was denounced by such Hollywood Luminaries as Mark Ruffalo (comic book actor in the Avengers), Michael Moore (college drop out) and Cynthia Nixon (known for that erudite television show Sex and the City).
It was pooh poohed by our beloved media. CNN’s Van Jones, MSNBC’s Chris Mathews, and CNN’s Chris Cillizza (sample comment: “Reading the teleprompter Trump always seemed sort of surprised by the next words.” WHTF?) were particularly aggrieved.
It turns out, however, that the speech was warmly received by the vast majority of the American people. While it’s not surprising that, in a CBS poll right after the speech, 97% of Republicans approved of the speech, what is surprising is that an amazing (in this age of divisive politics) 75% of the American people as a whole approved (with 72% of the INDEPENDENTS an even 43% of the DEMOCRATS concurring!!!).
In the face of this overwhelmingly favorable response to the speech, and the actual state of our union, the continued ranting of the Democrats and Hollywood and media “pundits” can only continue to undermine their credibility, which is already deeply in doubt. So, to Hollywood, the Democratic Party and the biased media I would simply say this: keep it up guys and gals! Have some more rope! Keep reaching for more of the rope with which you are hanging yourself.
