A Sad Wind
A Sad Wind
It’s a sad wind that blows across the playing fields of America.
It’s a wind that that doesn’t heal, but cripples all the more.
It’s a wind that looks to the past, not to the future.
It’s a wind that divides, not unites.
It’s a wind that knows not, the ONE thing that ALL Americans share.
For what ever our color, our politics, our beliefs,
we are ALL Americans.
We are ALL a part of the greatest enterprise our planet has ever known.
So no matter WHERE each of us wishes to take this country, we must ALL start HERE,
on this acre of ground, in this minute in time, for we are ALL Americans.
And that flag belongs to ALL of us.
Let us ALL join together and honor that simple fact.
And, as with all human achievements, there will be malcontents.
Let us recognize them for what they are.
And then let the rest of us walk past them
and join together as we build a better future.
Starting here. Starting now.
Under that flag.
The flag that belongs to each of us.
