What More Will It Take?
With last night’s truck and knife attack in London, there have now been three savage terror attacks in the United Kingdom in less than 10 weeks. (Since it’s hard to keep track of them all, recall that the first one of the recent attacks was on Westminster Bridge on March 22. A truck and knives were used as the weapons. The second attack, carried out at a teenage concert in Manchester occurred on May 22, used a bomb. The third was on London Bridge last night and used a truck and knives as weapons).
If we look JUST at Western Countries, a fatal jihadist attack occurs every couple of weeks. If we look at the world as a whole, the attacks occur every couple of days.
The question at hand, is, therefore, what FREQUENCY of attacks will be necessary to cause our governments to recognize for what it is, the war that is already raging against us. Once a day? TWICE a day? How much murder will do it? How much police deployment will do it? How much military deployment will do it? How much COST will do it? How much forfeiture of our way of life will do it? How much TERROR will do it?
President Trump already has recognized (quietly, thus far, to avoid hampering coalition building, I presume) the true nature of this war. So has, Russian President Putin. The Prime Ministers of Poland and Hungary are also aware. Nigel Farage, member of the European Parliament and “Brexit” advocate, is acutely aware. As are many others. All of these recognize that the “Religion of Peace” narrative is false, and that it is the Islamic fusion of the authoritarian politics of Sharia hegemony with deeply held religious imperatives that is the real story of our time.
But many of Western Civilization’s leaders continue to hide their heads in the sand. Although British Prime Minister Theresa May, has called for for “less tolerance of extremism” (what ever that means) in her latest speech, she continues to espouse the belief that violent jihad is a “perversion” of Islam, rather than a core tenet. So does the French President Emmanuel Macron. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is also “on board” with this erroneous position. So are the leaders of Sweden, Belgium and many other countries.
What WILL it take to wake these leaders from their sleep? How much murder, police deployment, military deployment, cost to society and forfeiture of our way of life will be necessary? Exactly how much TERROR will be necessary? What ever it takes, one can and MUST hope, that they’ll awaken soon.
