Special Counsel
On Thursday it was announced that Deputy Director of the Department of Justice, Rod Rosenstein, will appoint former FBI director Robert Meuller as Special Counsel to investigate possible Trump/Russia collusion during the recent election cycle. Many commentators have weighed in on the topic with some of them applauding the move and others deriding it.
I, for one, am in favor of it. I think that letting a completely nonpartisan investigator have a go at this is really the ONLY way that the matter will be put to rest. No many how many times President Trump (or the GOP faithful) assert that it’s “unnecessary” or “redundant” of “wasteful” or “wrongheaded” (all of which, by the way, are true),the leftist/liberal/progressive/democrat [LLPD] opponents will accept none of it. There will NEVER be enough assurances short of a special counsel to silence them.
So, it looks to me that the appointment of Special Counsel is necessary, and, in fact inevitable. So, am I concerned or worried about this development?
Absolutely NOT. The Trump/Russian narrative is so completely absurd that any and all investigations will unearth NOTHING. The reason that I’m confident that NOTHING will be found, is that NOTHING occurred. The whole narrative was a smokescreen from the start. It was fabricated as one of the many sad excuses explaining how Hillary could have “possibly” lost the election. As pointed out in previous posts, Russia’s interest in the Democratic National Committee (DNC) could not have been to help Trump win, because NO ONE (including the Russians) thought that Trump COULD win (see my previous post “Makes Absolutely No Sense” 3/29/17 in EmperorsNuClothes.com). NO one goes out of their way to help a certain loser. Any hacking they may or may not have done would have been simply to “dig up dirt” on Hillary Clinton, America’s next president, because, Lord knows, there’s plenty of dirt to dig.
Furthermore, in addition to the a prior arguments against Trump/Russia collusion mentioned above, is the fact that the collusion narrative has already had extensive investigation by the FBI, the Senate Intelligence Committee and an army of investigative reporters, with the discovery of absolutely nothing that would implicate Mr. Trump in ANY kind of collusion. This is not to say that there hasn’t been Russian hacking. There may or may not have been, but there’s been NO evidence that Mr. Trump had anything what-so-ever to do with it.
So, it’s my firm conviction that, after this process plays itself out, that Mr. Mueller will issue a report concluding that there was NO collusion between Mr. Trump and the Russians. Ultimately, this will be a victory for President Trump, and will be an arrow in his quiver. It is a shame, however, that until it’s resolved this will continue to be a distraction from the very important work of reform that this country so desperately needs. I hope Mr. Mueller works quickly.
