Firing Comey, Finally
President Trump doesn’t give two hoots how exaggerated Mr. Comey’s estimate of the number of Anthony Wiener’s emails may have been. Although that may be the reason given or implied for Comey’s forced retirement, that’s not why he was fired. He was fired because he was a blatant partisan operative for the Democratic Party. If you’ll recall, he was originally appointed by none other than Barack Hussein Obama and has proven himself to be a minion faithful to his original boss. In addition to rewriting the FBI manuals (expunging the very words “Islamic Terrorist” from its lexicon), the FBI, under his direction, has been spectacularly inept at identifying and preventing domestic terrorism (Fort Lauderdale, Columbus, New York City, Baton Rouge, Orlando, San Bernadino, Chattanooga, Fort Hood, Boston, and on and on and on). For these reasons, I had long been suspicious of Mr. Comey.
It became completely clear, however, that he was compromised when he refused to pursue Hillary Clinton for a crime that she committed in plain sight of the entire nation when she deleted 30,000 emails UNDER SUBPOENA. The investigation (and subsequent charges) SHOULD have been, quite simply: OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE, and EVIDENCE TAMPERING. The unsecured server issue, although clearly illegal (I have quoted the relevant statutes in previous posts) was penny-ante in comparison to the obstruction of justice charge. It was investigated, in my opinion, solely to focus attention away from the more serious crime, of which she was quite obviously guilty. And then, when he later exonerated Hillary of even the server crime by saying that he saw “no intent” to break the law (not a necessary criterion, by the way, for at least one of the statutes that she violated) it became CERTAIN that he was a partisan factotum.
Now, a skeptic might counter: “Wait a minute! Mr. Comey’s 11th hour announcement regarding the Weiner emails cost Hillary the election, didn’t it? How could he, therefore, be partisan to the Democrats?” I would agree that the 11th hour exposé was a significant nail in the coffin of Hillary’s candidacy. I believe, however, that when Comey made that announcement he did so, at that juncture, solely for the purpose of saving his own skin. At that point, self preservation prevailed over his long standing Democrat loyalties. I believe that, once the tide began to turn against Hillary, Comey, who IS quick on the uptake, became concerned that if the “unthinkable” happened (Trump winning), that he himself might be in serious legal jeopardy over his handling of Clinton’s case (he KNOWS the relevant laws, of which there are MANY that apply). I believe that he became increasingly concerned that a hostile incoming justice department might initiate an investigation into his conduct, and might even bring charges. The possibility of 10 years in a federal penitentiary must not have escaped his attention. Accordingly, he did the smart thing: he turned away from his partisan stance and announced “new evidence” in the case. By this simple announcement he would have established very good grounds to rebuff any accusations of democratic partisanship or favoritism, saying, in effect: “How can I be considered partisan toward the Democrats, when I cost them the election?” A point that’s pretty hard to counter, isn’t it? And this “about face” is one of the major reasons why the liberals are so incensed with him. He simply WASN’T SUPPOSED TO DO THAT!
Now, it is true that by managing the case the way he did, Comey did manage to antagonize just about EVERYONE in Washington: Democrat, Republican AND Independent. But it’s also true, that in the process, he also managed to take himself out of any legal jeopardy he might have been in. Smart man. Good riddance.
