Not A Peep!

Not a peep! Not a single peep can be heard! I am referring, of course, to the complete and utter lack of comment from the Trump/Russia conspiracy people on President Trump’s bombing of Bashar Assad’s airbase as had I predicted in my last post (see: What Do The Conspiracy People Say Now?, 4/7/17). Sure enough, they haven’t said a word lately about the putative conspiracy. But, let’s face it, what CAN they say? The idea that Mr. Putin colluded with Mr. Trump to give him an electoral victory was very tenuous right from the beginning (see: Makes Absolutely No Sense, 3/29/17). It was promulgated by leftists, “progressives” and Fifth Column Democrats (see: The Fifth Column, 3/28/17) to avoid the harsh reality that their candidate (Hillary Clinton) and their program were firmly rejected by the American people. And, despite the fact that scenario was preposterous (and not supported by a lick of evidence) they kept pushing and were able to gain some “traction” with it. Now, in the wake of the airbase bombing, that whole narrative has come tumbling completely to the ground.

Now, it has been plausibly suggested, that the airbase bombing has been so good at squelching the conspiracy theories, that Mr. Trump may have ordered the raid for the EXPRESS PURPOSE of doing just that (thanks SM). Now, although I don’t think that this possibility should be dismissed a priori, I do think that it’s an unlikely scenario, as I’ll now explain.

If Mr. Trump had indeed colluded with Mr. Putin to win the election, Mr. Putin, being ruthless but VERY clever, would certainly have collected evidence of such a plot. Mr. Putin would be in a position to essentially BLACKMAIL Mr. Trump. Now, Mr. Trump, who, by the way, is also a very clever fellow, would therefore have had to tread very lightly vis-a-vis Putin. He would, as a consequence, NOT be inclined to attack one of Mr. Putin’s closest allies. So the fact that President Trump would order such an attack tells me, in no uncertain terms, that Mr. Putin has NOTHING on Mr. Trump. It also tells me that Mr. Trump has what used to be called “intestinal fortitude.”
