What Do The Conspiracy People Say Now?
In his first test of the Trump administration, Syrian dictator Bashar Assad used poison gas on civilian men, women, children and babies. Mr. Assad had gotten away with a similar gambit during the Obama administration, AFTER Obama declared that the use of poison gas would cross a “red line” that would result in retribution by the US. As everyone knows, Obama backed away from that threat and settled on a milquetoast measure whereby Assad supposedly turned over some of his chemical weapons. The real contest was, of course, not between Obama and Assad, but, rather Obama and Putin, who was, and is, a strong supporter of the Assad regime. And, as we all know, Obama flinched, and Assad got away with murder. So now, a couple of months into Mr. Trump’s tenure, Assad has tried it again.
This time, however, there’s a new sheriff in town. President Trump has responded with calculated resolve. He deployed some 500 unmanned Tomahawk cruise missiles to destroy a major Syrian military air base, and a very strong point was made: Mr. Assad, we will no longer let the Kremlin protect you from retribution should you carry out heinous acts of barbarism. There really IS a red line, you see.
Now, all of the above has been covered extensively in the news, but the point I want to make here is that President Trump has carried out an action that directly defies and challenges Syria’s ally and protector, Mr. Vladimir Putin. How do the liberal/”progressive”/leftists in our government and media explain this? What do the purveyors of a Russia/Trump conspiracy theory have to say about it? What CAN they say about it? If Mr. Trump was, indeed, in thrall with Mr. Putin, why would he carry out such a direct challenge to him. And, if Mr. Trump is, indeed, so l grateful to Mr. Putin for electoral “interference”, as the conspiracy mongers suggest, why would he turn tables so quickly. And, if Mr. Putin did, in fact, help elect Mr. Trump, Mr. Trump would, unquestionably, want to tread lightly around Mr. Putin, as Putin would be in a position to “leak” details that could support the conspiracy narrative, thereby calling into question the legitimacy of Mr. Trump’s victory. If Mr. Trump had Russian help, he simply wouldn’t come out swinging as he has.
So, President Trump’s response to Assad’s challenge is FURTHER proof that the Trump/Russia electoral conspiracy theories that we seem to hear so much about lately, are, indeed, nonsense. Will someone please pass this on to blowhards Schiff and Schumer as well as the increasingly senile Ms. Pelosi?
