The New Normal
At least 11 people are dead in a terrorist subway bombing today (4/3/17) in St. Petersburg, Russia. Then, there’s at least 20 dead today in a another terrorist attack in a Pakistani shrine. Just another day with “The Religion of Peace” making headlines for extreme and horrific violence. And, don’t forget the Westminster bridge attack was just nine days ago. And, in between these attacks, Boko Haram has kidnapped another 20 Christian girls, and ISIS has decapitated several people for “sorcery.” All of this, and the warmer weather of another “Arab Spring” has just begun.
Amazingly, after every one of these barbaric attacks, people in government and the media immediately spring into action and pretend that the violence has “nothing to do with Islam” and begin to worry about an “Islamophobic” backlash! The violence itself is ascribed to ignorance, poverty or insanity. However, many of the perpetrators (and their mentors) are neither ignorant, poor or insane (see my post “An Inconvenient Truth” from 3/25/17, where I list the academic and learned credentials of many of the jihadi protagonists). And, despite the efforts of many apologists, the attacks continue.
So the question that once again comes up is: is this the new normal? Is this our future? It sure looks like it, doesn’t it? And, with the continued Muslim Hijra (migration) the problem will accelerate. Western civilization is now at the point that it must begin to defend itself. If it doesn’t, in 100 years, perhaps much sooner, we will find ourselves not merely under Islamic rule, but back in the Dark Ages of medieval history.
Bold measures will be necessary. Quite a number of radical reforms MUST be inacted. First and foremost, Sharia law MUST be banned outright in western countries. Allegiance to the governments and laws of western countries MUST be demanded of all who live there, be they citizens or foreigners, with imprisonment for citizens and expulsion for foreigners for those who refuse. Travel to western countries from hotbeds of jihad (where true “vetting” is well nigh impossible), MUST be banned. The “refugee” invasion MUST be stopped immediately. Increased surveillance of Muslims and their mosques MUST be carried out, and Imams that preach violent jihad MUST be arrested and incarcerated. Citizens that travel abroad to wage jihad MUST have their citizenship revoked and must not be allowed to return to their country. Complete energy independence from mid eastern oil MUST be attained. Iran’s quest for nuclear capability MUST be stopped. And, finally, laws limiting freedom of speech critical of Islam MUST be rescinded. Organized jihadi groups such as ISIS MUST be met on the battlefield and defeated.
Now, all of this is, without doubt, a tall order. And, given our fundamental laissez faire instincts when it comes to religion, an unpleasant one. But no matter how unpleasant these measures may seem to us, they are essential to the survival of our culture and our way of life. And, as difficult as it may seem to enact the measures listed above, it CAN be done. We already see some steps along these lines being taken. China, for example, has recently banned burkas and “abnormal” beards from its Muslim provinces. France has shut down 20 mosques for radical activities just since December 2016 alone, and, since 2011, has banned burkas and niqabs in public places. And, although the mid eastern travel ban is still in litigation here in the US, several nations (Hungary and Poland, for example) have bans now in place, and other countries are moving in that direction.
So, ladies and gentlemen, it IS possible to push back against the “new normal” we see unfolding before our eyes. It will take political will and courage on our part and on the part of our leaders. Our future, however, depends upon it.
P.S. After I posted this essay earlier today, further reports came out concerning the Pakistani shrine deaths. Apparently, this incident was not the typical terrorist attack that we’ve all become accustomed to: it’s WORSE. Reportedly this incident grew out of the smoldering Sufi vs. Sunni hatred that is endemic in Pakistan. There have been several Sunni on Sufi bombings over the last couple of years (the Sunnis regard the Sufis as heretics). This director of the Sufi shrine in question today became convinced that fellow Muslims were out to kill him, so he responded to this threat in a novel way. He invited the congregation over to the shrine to pray, at which point he, and a number of accomplices, then tortured and murdered them. As more and more congregants showed up, more and more were tortured and murdered. You can NOT make this stuff up. The Pakistani antiterrorism squad is still investigating, so more details are likely to emerge. But once again, the “religion of peace” continues to shock and amaze the civilized world.
When are the news media going to wake up and tell it like it is?……soon I hope!
