Running Rampant
Just a couple of weeks ago the liberal media, in concert with leftist commentators through out the land, were HORRIFIED that Mr. Trump might dare to legally challenge the results of the election if foul play was suspected. What a menace to our country! What a trouble maker! What a traitor! What a dangerous man! NO one uttered a WORD objecting, however, to John Podesta’s announcement early Wednesday morning that Hillary was considering doing just that! Oh, the amnesia!
Yesterday, when protests broke out in many American cities and college campuses, no one uttered a PEEP that such protests were ill considered, actually illogical, and, perhaps, not in the country’s best interests. What were they protesting anyway? Were they suddenly against participatory democracy? Were they against free elections? Did they think the press gave their candidate unfavorable coverage? Were they protesting the will of the American electorate? Oh, the myopia!
Leftist commentators spoke out patronizingly against the “uneducated working man” who dared to defy their educated advisors, resulting, they felt, in Trump’s victory. Isn’t the working man the “proletariat” whom the left is supposed to represent? Oh, the irony!
A French ambassador spoke up today, in the international media, to say, and I quote this verbatim: “Our WORLD is crumbling” (emphasis mine). Oh, the idiocy!
Commentators (including the always funny but sometimes wrong, Dave Ross) took pains to claim that the election didn’t actually establish a mandate. With victories not only in the presidential electoral college, but in the retention of majorities in both the House AND Senate, the mandate is CLEAR. Oh, the blindness!
Pollsters took pains to explain how their predictions of a five point Hillary victory, were’nt REALLY wrong! What they actually meant, you see, was that the race would be “close.” Oh, the foolishness!
And lastly, most of the academic professors and pundits that pontificated about this election, are now in deep hiding. Not one of them poked their head up and said anything intelligent (like “You know what? We were wrong!” or “You know, I was pretty stupid about this”)! Oh, the cowardice!
So, ladies and gentlemen, amnesia, myopia, irony, idiocy, blindness, foolishness and cowardice are running rampant in our post election society. Let’s hope they run their course soon and we can begin the difficult task of repairing our injured nation.
