A New Defense
If anyone doubts that there’s a legal double standard that has, thus far, been applied to Hillary Clinton, this snippet should disabuse you: the double standard has ALREADY been used as defense in a court of law! The effectiveness of this defense strategy remains to be seen, as the verdict had not yet come down, but its use has set precedent.
Ms. Bridget Kelly, a former aid to New Jersey Governor Chris Christy, is on trial for allegedly plotting to deliver severe inconvenience to a New Jersey town near the George Washington Bridge on the Hudson River, for it’s mayor’s lack of support for Christy when he was a gubernatorial candidate. Supposedly Ms. Kelly, with others, conspired to close lanes on the George Washington Bridge to divert traffic into the unsuspecting town causing terrible congestion and thereby extracting “revenge” on that unfortunate locality.
Now, I have long been suspicious of the true nature of this cockamamie “plot”. Having traveled the GWB thousands of times in my life, I can say with great confidence that there is NO degree of delay or inconvenience that would raise, for me, a suspicion of a “revenge conspiracy”. My gut feeling is that whole Bridge Gate mess was, from the start, a clever strategy by Christy detractors to sully the man and take him out of presidential contention (which it did).
Now whether this hypothesis is true or false, deliberate closure of GWB lanes did take place and Ms. Kelly, among others, was on trial for it.
Right from the start, there were “problems” with her credibility. She was considered so unreliable that investigators felt unable to even send a case against Christy himself to Grand Jury. On the witness stand she did not appear any more sincere. When, it turns out that she DELETED emails pertinent to the investigation, she invoked the Clinton scandal as defense. Her exact quote: “It’s not like I’m the only one around deleting emails!”, a clear reference to Hillary’s deletion of 33 thousand emails under subpoena! The implication is, obviously: “If SHE can do it, then I can do it!” So, there you have it, dear readers: the Hillary Defense! Quite a precedent! Quite a message to send to our citizens and especially to our youth!
